About the VBC

The Virginia Business Council (VBC) is an association comprised of the top presidents, CEOs and senior executives from Virginia’s largest employers. Council member companies are significant contributors to Virginia’s economy and quality of life. This includes:

  • Generating tax revenue that funds critical state and community priorities,

  • Providing jobs that offer opportunity, security and prosperity to Virginia residents, 

  • Creating and delivering needed products and services,

  • Empowering people to discover, learn, create and grow,

  • Sparking innovation that leads to new ways to serve people, solve problems and improve the world in which we live,

  • Providing access to the global economy, and

  • Investing in people and communities throughout the Commonwealth.

 

The VBC is a non-partisan organization representing a wide range of industries, including government contracting, technology, manufacturing, agribusiness, transportation, energy, healthcare, financial services and communications. Through the companies that comprise the VBC, Virginia residents are able to access:

  • Quality healthcare throughout all stages of life,

  • Manufacturing, innovation and research,

  • Affordable, reliable and clean energy,

  • Connectivity to support commerce, employment, education, entertainment and social interaction,

  • Financial services and access to capital,

  • Development and maintenance of infrastructure to enable the movement of goods, services and people, and

  • A strong defense and protection of the Commonwealth and the United States.

Council members recognize and support the key factors that are critical for businesses as they consider locating and expanding in Virginia, including:

  • Access to talent.

  • High quality of life.

  • Advantageous location and infrastructure.

  • Positive business climate.

 

Criteria to be a member of the VBC

Members must have a minimum of 1,000 employees and/or $1 billion in annual revenue. 

Senior executive participation is required of all members for both principal and deputy positions.

Membership in the VBC is by invitation only.
